Skanlore — Terms of Service
Last updated: June 17, 2026
Skanlore is published by NJ Labs.
These Terms govern your use of the Skanlore mobile application ("Skanlore", "the app") on iOS and Android, published by NJ Labs ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. Who may use Skanlore
- Accounts may be created and held only by a parent or legal guardian aged 18 or over. Children may not create accounts.
- The parent adds child profiles and supervises all use of the app by their children.
- By adding a child profile, you confirm you are that child's parent or legal guardian and consent to the practices described in our Privacy Policy.
2. The service
Skanlore is a camera-based educational vocabulary game for children aged 5–12. A child scans real-world objects and the app evaluates vocabulary properties to progress through game quests. We may add, change, or remove features over time to improve the app.
3. Accounts and security
- You are responsible for keeping your credentials secure and for activity under your account.
- Provide accurate information at registration and keep your email current so we can send account-essential emails (password resets, deletion confirmations).
- Notify us at support-skanlore@njlabs.app if you believe your account has been compromised.
4. Subscriptions, billing, and renewals
- Skanlore offers optional paid subscriptions (for example, monthly and annual plans) that unlock additional content and features.
- Billing is handled entirely by the app store — Apple's App Store on iOS and Google Play on Android — through their in-app purchase systems. We do not collect or store your payment-card details.
- Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends, at the then-current price for your plan.
- Payment is charged to your Apple or Google account on confirmation of purchase and on each renewal.
- Prices may vary by region and may change over time. Where required, we will give notice through the app or the relevant store before changes take effect.
5. Cancellation and refunds
- Cancel auto-renewal anytime in your store account: Apple subscriptions (iOS) or Google Play subscriptions (Android). You keep access until the end of the current paid period.
- Refunds are governed by the app store's policies, not by us. Requests must be made to Apple or Google directly; we are generally unable to issue refunds on their behalf.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Reverse-engineer or attempt to extract source code from the app, except where permitted by law.
- Use the app to break any law, or to access another user's account or data.
- Interfere with, overload, or disrupt the app, our servers, or our service providers.
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the app or its content without our written permission.
7. Intellectual property
The app, its content, artwork, characters, audio, and software are owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for your family's own non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.
8. Children's privacy
Our handling of children's data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. We comply with COPPA, GDPR-K, the Google Play "Designed for Families" programme, and the Apple App Store Kids category.
9. Disclaimers
Skanlore is an educational game provided "as is" and "as available". While we work to make it accurate and reliable, we do not warrant it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that its content will produce any particular learning outcome. It is not a substitute for formal education or professional advice.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us (via the app store) in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
11. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the app and delete your account anytime via Parent Dashboard → Settings → Delete Account, or via our data deletion process. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms or use the app unlawfully.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified in the app or by email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. The "Last updated" date above reflects the current version.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. For consumers in the EU/UK, mandatory local consumer-protection rights are unaffected.
